Introduction Paragraph

Hi, my name is Ruhama (she/her)! I’m a freshman with sophomore status. I’m also 18 years old and from the Bronx. I’m undeclared, but I want to major in civil engineering, possibly concentrating on water resources. I speak both English and Bangla fluently. Right now, the biggest issue I have with writing is clarity and conciseness. I tend to stretch my writing and can cut out many filler words.

Outside of school, I love to crochet (I’ve been doing it for 8 years now!), read books (a lot of romance and fantasy but I’m open to all recommendations), and watch shows (right now, I’m watching Happiness, a k-drama about this disease that causes people to become zombies essentially, and how the military handles the disease as it spreads to the general public). Right now, I’m reading the Throne of Glass series, and honestly, it’s not that special; it’s decent. I wish the characters had more personality. One of my favorite books is Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter. It’s a super cute rom-com about two high schoolers who go from next-door neighbors to lovers. I mentioned in class that I love I Have Lost My Way by Gayle Forman. It’s a book about three teenagers who meet in unfortunate circumstances and have to deal with the situations occurring in their lives. However, I don’t like the Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo. I didn’t finish it and think Six of Crows by her is way better.

I’m excited to get to know everyone and think this class will be beneficial in the long run!

P.S. If you have any similar hobbies/ interests as me let’s talk more!

I took this on the day of my high school graduation (I went to Brooklyn Tech if anyone else went there too). I found it super funny because when I looked back on the pictures I took that day, I was wearing my stole backward!
